Your Big Dreams Are Too Small
April 16, 2021 by Trailblazers Church
We have been raised in a culture that encourages us to dream big. “Follow your dreams!” “You can do anything!” “Be who you want to be!” Many of us have spent our lives chasing dreams, and some of us have achieved them. Our whole nation once idealized “the American dream,” and such dreams have brought millions of immigrants to this country. We ourselves are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants chasing dreams.
In the midst of dream-chasing there is danger. Pastors often encourage us not to miss out on the here and now, because chasing our dreams is not ultimately fulfilling. When we overlook the present, we risk hurting those dear to us, and even hurting ourselves.
But today, I want you to consider this: your biggest dreams are too small. The Bible says that God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Eph. 3:20, NIV). That means that God’s dreams for you are bigger. Imagine the biggest dream you can, and God has already topped it. The more you expand your imagination, the bigger you dream, the immeasurably more God surpasses that dream. God’s dreams are bigger, higher, faster, and deeper than anything you can imagine.
Jesus invites you to start asking and imagining. When your imagination grows, ask and imagine bigger. When you realize that God Himself lives inside of you, realize that your dreams are too small. He wants to give you more.
God has something huge planned for you.
Start asking and imagining, push the limits, and never stop. Your big dreams are too small.
