Who Is God?

What is God really like?

We know that there are lots of misconceptions about God. There are lots of people running around out there calling themselves “Christians,” and many of them don’t put forth a very accurate picture of what God is really like. People are broken and often not the best representation of what they claim to believe. (And often don’t even actually believe what they claim!)

This is what God is really like.

Is God real?

God is real and personal, and He wants be your friend.

What is God like?

God is good and true, full of love, always honest, and always wanting the best for you.

What can God do?

God is all-powerful, but gentle and not overbearing, able to protect and work out all things for eventual good.

Do we have free will?

God has the freedom to do whatever He wants. He also created you to have the freedom to do whatever you want. He hopes that you will choose to do good: whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy (Phil. 4:8).

Where is God?

God is all-knowing–past, present, and future–and always present, never far away, always ready to talk, live life, and do stuff with you.

God is all-forgiving. Nothing can prevent Him from loving you, forgiving you, and wanting to be reconciled with you, but you must choose to be with Him.

What is the Trinity?

God is one God in three persons. This is called the Trinity. The Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit are all equally God, being of one mind and one essence, even while distinct in their actions.

Who is the Father?

Father loves you and wants to adopt you into His spiritual family. He created all things, and He created you. He is a good father, an honoring father, a father who lifts up His children, encourages them, disciplines them (but not harshly), leads them, and restores them.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus (the Son), came to earth as a man (100% man and 100% God). He showed us how to live and sacrificed Himself so that you can live forever with Him, if you want to.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit empowers all of God’s adopted children to live naturally supernatural lives, bringing the power, truth, and love of God to you if you give God your allegiance.

What is the Church?

The Church is the sum total of all people who are part of God’s family, past, present, and future. The Church’s job is to spread God’s kingdom to the farthest reaches of heaven and earth.

What does God do?

God is active and working alongside the Church today, healing, loving, freeing, teaching, delivering, and bringing hope to all people everywhere and to all creation. God makes miracles happen everyday all over the world. After all, God is God, not a mere human. It is perfectly logical and reasonable to expect God to act like the supernatural, divine deity that He is.

What is Grace? What is Faith?

God freely invites you to be a part of all of this. God offers you grace, unlimited favor, in exchange for faith, lifelong allegiance.

How can I be a part right now?

  1. Speak to Him, aloud or in your heart (He doesn’t need sound to communicate. He’s God, remember?), pledge your allegiance to Him and request His favor, and He will give it to you, because He wants to.
  2. Join the Church by talking to us, sharing your story, and getting baptized. Baptism is an important, symbolic act where you announce that you give your allegiance to God.
